WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Keith Rendleman led all scorers with 16 points and Cedrick Williams posted a double-double to lead UNC Wilmington over Wofford 49-37 Saturday in nonconference action.
The Seahawks (2-3) clamped down defensively on the Terriers from the start, taking a 25-19 lead at halftime. Wofford (2-5) shot just 29.4 percent from the floor, making 15 of 51 shots. The Terriers fared even worse beyond the arc, hitting 5 of 22 3-pointers (22.7 percent).
UNC Wilmington had a huge advantage on the boards. Williams, who scored 10 points, grabbed 15 rebounds. Rendleman added eight more to help give the Seahawks a 43-26 edge on the glass.
Although UNC Wilmington attempted just eight 3-pointers, making two, the Seahawks had a big advantage at the foul line. They were 11 for 19 at the stripe, Wofford just 2 for 7. Spencer Collins (13 points) was the only Terrier in double figures.
