HIGH POINT, N.C. -- John Brown scored 24 points and High Point pulled away in the second half to defeat St. Andrews 93-62 Wednesday night.
The Panthers (3-1) shot 63.3 percent (19 of 30) in the second half but couldn't shake the Knights (0-4), an NAIA opponent that counted this game as an exhibition, until they closed the game with a 32-13 run over the final 10:48.
The game was tied with 9:11 left in the first half and the Panthers led 44-34 at intermission.
High Point began the second half with baskets by Justin Cheek and Allan Cheney, but its lead never grew to more than 15 points until Adam Weary's jumper made it 65-49 with 9:58 left.
Chaney scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for High Point, Weary had 13 points and Jairus Simms got nine assists.
Orlando Edwards scored 14 points and Demetrius Monroe added 12 for St. Andrews.
