CANCUN, Mexico -- Donta Harper scored 16 points to lead Gardner-Webb to a 55-43 victory over Howard Tuesday in the Cancun Challenge.
Harper also had nine rebounds and six assists for the Runnin' Bulldogs (3-3). Kevin Hartley added 12 points for Gardner-Webb.
Alphonso Leary led the Bison (0-4) with 15 points. Gardner-Webb led 22-15 at halftime, and Howard got within three points before the Runnin' Bulldogs outscored the Bison 15-4 in one stretch to open up a double-digit lead.
Howard's only lead came after the game's first basket. Gardner-Webb scored 13 of the next 17 points.
