Quinnipiac 70, Hartford 61

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Ike Azotam scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and James Johnson also scored 15, to help Quinnipiac overcome an upset bid by winless Hartford 70-61 Tuesday night.

Hartford, which trailed 40-31 less than a minute into the second half, reeled off the next 10 points. A layup by Johnson put the Bobcats (4-4) ahead 42-41, but the Hawks (0-9) regained the lead on a 3-pointer by Andres Torres, who finished with 25 points.

Quinnipiac pulled ahead 51-44 with a 9-0 run, but Hartford stayed close and got within 55-53 on a 3-pointer by Torres with 5:56 left.

A jumper and a 3-pointer by Johnson gave the Bobcats some breathing room, at 60-54 with 4:18 to play.

Zaid Hearst added 14 points and Dave Johnson 10 for Quinnipiac, which had a 42-27 rebounding advantage. The Bobcats came in ranked third in the NCAA in rebound margin at plus-11.4.
