NIAGARA, N.Y. -- Marvin Jordan scored 23 points, including a layup to force overtime, while Juan'ya Green also had 23 points with four of those coming in the extra frame as Niagara held on to beat Central Connecticut State 102-93 on Monday night.
Down 86-84 with 46 seconds left to play in regulation, Jordan dropped in a layup 11 seconds later for Niagara (1-0) and both teams turned the ball over in the final seconds to send the game to overtime.
In the extra period, Joe Efese put in a layup to once again give CCSU the advantage, 88-86, but Joe Thomas' bucket started a 10-0 run that sealed it for the Purple Eagles.
Thomas finished with 13 points and Antoine Mason added 12 for Niagara, which outscored CCSU 16-7 in the extra frame.
Kyle Vinales scored 39 points to lead the Blue Devils (0-2).
