MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Eddie Ard led Lipscomb in a 79-72 come from behind win over San Jose State on Saturday on the final day of the First Shot Exempt Tournament. But San Jose won the tournament.
San Jose never trailed in the first half, shooting 47 percent and leading 46-37 at the break.
The Spartans kept that lead until a jumper by Brandon Brown with just over three minutes remaining tied the score 68-68. It was all downhill from there as the Bisons held on to the lead for a win.
Lipscomb shot 54 percent in the second half, keeping San Jose to just 36 percent shooting.
Ard scored 19 baskets for Lipscomb, one of four players in the double digits. Josh Slater scored 18, Michael Lusk scored 11 and LaKory Daniels added 10. Brandon Brown scored 8 but added 11 rebounds for the Bisons.
C.J. Webster led San Jose with 19 points and 15 rebounds. The only other player to score in the double digits was Jamon Hill with 10.
