Rutgers 54, Princeton 44

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -- Quincy Douby scored 23 points, including

12 in the final 7:21, to lift Rutgers over visiting Princeton,

54-44, Saturday afternoon.

Held in check for most of the second half, the Big East's top

offensive threat went off once the Tigers tied things at 37 -- all

on Noah Savage's 3-pointer with 7:40 remaining.

Douby responded with a 3-pointer of his own, drilled a couple

foul shots to spark a victory for the Scarlet Knights (10-3).

Princeton (2-9) had led in the first half, going up 11-9

following a drive by Geoff Kestler with 11:25 remaining. But the

Scarlet Knights went on a 12-2 run highlighted by five points off

the bench from Ollie Bailey.

The Tigers remained within striking distance thanks to a couple

backdoor baskets, but still headed into halftime with a point total

stuck in the teens for the seventh time this season.

The Tigers, though, heated up following intermission, rattling

off a 17-4 run after falling behind 33-20. Three times Savage

connected from beyond the arc during that.

Unfortunately for Princeton, all the effort did was set the

stage for Douby's final run down the stretch. Marquis Webb added 10

for Rutgers.

The Tigers were forced into 23 turnovers.

Savage finished with 17 points, thanks to a 5-for-7 performance

on 3-pointers.
