Yale 73, Navy 70

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- Eric Flato scored 19 points and Chris

Andrews stole the ball twice in the final seconds as Yale beat Navy

73-70 Tuesday night.

After Matt Fannin put the Midshipmen up 63-58 with 6:12 left,

Flato scored five points during a 7-0 Yale run. Fannin, who led

Navy with 20 points, tied that game at 65-65 on an inside move with

3:41 left, but the Bulldogs scored the next six points.

Andrews missed the front end of a one-and-one opportunity with

12.5 seconds left and Yale ahead 72-70, but he made up for it by

stealing the ball from David Hooper with 4.3 seconds left.

Andrews was fouled and made the second of two free throw

attempts to put Yale up by three, then stepped in front of Fannin

to steal the inbounds pass.

Caleb Holmes scored 13 of his career-high 17 points in the first

half for Yale. Casey Hughes scored 14 for the Bulldogs. Dominick

Martin had 12 rebounds.

Yale, which trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, used a

7-0 run midway through the second half to take its first lead,

54-53 with 9:56 left.

Kaleo Kina had 14 points and six assists for Navy, while Greg

Sprink added 10. Sprink scored the game's first six points as Navy

jumped out to an 8-0 lead.

The victory gave Yale (5-4) its first back-to-back wins of the

season. Navy (3-5) had won three straight.
