Nebraska Cornhuskers @ Kansas State Wildcats
Kansas State 73, Nebraska 53
MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Jeremiah Massey had 25 points and nine
rebounds and Kansas State pulled away in the second half for an
73-53 win over Nebraska on Saturday.
Leading 37-32 with 14 minutes to go, Massey scored on
back-to-back post moves and had eight points during a 17-3 run. By
the time Clent Stewart hit Lance Harris for an alley-oop dunk with
8:33 remaining, Kansas State had a 54-35 lead.
Harris finished with 18 points and Justin Williams added 12 for
the Wildcats (16-11, 6-10 Big 12).
Nebraska (14-13, 7-9) went more than six minutes without a
basket during the run, turning the ball over three times and
getting just three rebounds.
Joe McCray scored 14 points and John Turek and Aleks Maric each
added 11 for Nebraska, which had its three-game win streak snapped.
After Turek finally stopped Kansas State's initial second-half
surge, the Wildcats rattled off eight more for their biggest lead
of the game, 62-37, with 6:17 to play.
Despite shooting 43.5 percent for the game, Nebraska was just
4-for-15 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Wildcats also
outrebounded the Cornhuskers 36-26.
Kansas State had just seven turnovers and never trailed, going
on a 9-2 run midway through the first half to build an early 20-13
lead.
After closing within 33-25 at halftime, the Huskers got into
foul trouble. Jason Dourisseau and Maric each fouled out, and
Kansas State capitalized at the free throw line. The Wildcats
converted on 20-of-30 attempts while Nebraska made just 9-of-17
from the line.
