Yale 79, Cornell 63

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- Sam Kaplan made seven of nine field

goals and scored 16 points, one short of his career high, as Yale

beat Cornell 79-63 Friday night.

Dominick Martin added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the

Bulldogs, who snapped a three-game losing streak and evened their

record at 6-6 in Ivy play.

The Bulldogs (10-15) opened the game with a 16-4 run, capped by

a jumper by Edwin Draughan with 14:10 left. The lead grew to 20,

30-10, on a Martin layup with 8:14 remaining.

Yale (12-14, 7-6 Ivy) led 42-27 at halftime and opened the

second half with 9-3 run.

Draughan added 14 points and Casey Hughes scored 11 for the

Bulldogs.

Eric Taylor had 14 points to lead Cornell, while Lenny Collins

scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
