Liberty 69, Marist 67

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- David Dees scored 22 points, including

four 3-pointers, to lead Liberty to a 69-67 win over Marist

Thursday night.

Larry Blair chipped in 19 points and five steals, while Leo

Lightbourne had 17 points and the game-winning three-point play

with 22 seconds left to seal the victory.

Marist (4-7) held the lead for most of the first half, going up

by as much as eight (18-10) on a layup by Miles Orman at the 11:55

mark. But after a 3-pointer from Dees, the Flames (2-8) were

trailing only 34-32 at the half.

The Red Foxes held the lead for much of the second half. A layup

by Will Whittington at the 4:19 mark put Marist up 62-56, but

Liberty chipped away at the lead the rest of the way.

Whittington, 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, led the Red Foxes

with 15 points. Will McClurkin added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
