Akron 77, Duquesne 65

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (AP) -- Freshman Bubba Walther scored 15 points,

all from 3-point range, as Akron handed Duquesne its fifth

consecutive loss, 77-65, Wednesday night.

All 11 players that saw the court scored for the Zips (3-1), who

won their third in a row. Jeremiah Wood (11 points) and Dru Joyce

(10) also scored in double-digits for Akron, which has now won four

in a row against Duquesne.

The Zips outscored Duquesne, 37-21, in the second half after

trailing 44-40 at halftime.

Duquesne (1-6) began the game on a 12-2 run, but after an Akron

timeout, the Zips scored the next 12 points.

Duquesne scored a season-high 44 points in the first half,

including 14 from Bryant McAllister. The Dukes shot 63 percent from

the field and 67 percent from 3-point range for the half, but the

second half was a different story. The Dukes shot just 23 percent

from the field and did not hit a 3-pointer the final 20 minutes.

McAllister led all scorers with 21 points. DeVario Hudson had 12

points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Dukes.
