ESPN Player Evaluations

Feb. 2009: McMillan is 6-2 and will be a nice '4' or power forward. She plays some wing at her high school because her skill level is ahead of her competition but doesn't project as a wing in college. The raw footspeed just isn't there to play a '3'. She has the length and width to play in the paint. She can dribble off a rebound to start the break if an outlet is not ready and her passing is way ahead of most '4' players. She went three of four from 3-point range against Tyee. The three makes were all net. She will need to speed her release up a bit to be a significant 3-point threat in college. She can still stretch the defense with her perimeter shooting if a bigger forward doesn't close out to the stripe.

Her hands were the most obvious strength. She catches just about everything thrown her way in the low post, high post or on the wing. Most of her interior damage was done off of rebounds as the opposition zoned to take the post entry away. When she did catch it on the block she was able to create drop steps and turn around jumpers. The defense wasn't big enough to force her into counter-moves but based on the fluid movement in the rest of her game she could learn several college level post scoring moves.

It's hard to knock a player's effort when they score 16 points in a half but she could have punished the opposition for huge numbers if she wanted to. It was senior night and she distributed the ball a lot, even from the high post. For a late signee she could be a steal.
