TOC Dec. 08: Tolleson's Desiree Smith joins the list of budding young point guards in the freshman class. At 5-5 she doesn't have prototypical height but her skills will get her plenty of attention regardless. She is deceptively quick in an April Sykes kind of way. She never makes a move with blinding quickness but she is shifty and creates as much space as guard quicker than her. She sets up a lot of dribble penetration with a great inside-out dribble move and she uses her shoulders with it to freeze the defender. She is also a good shooter with a smooth stroke that is legit at 3-point range. Defensively she'll need to prove she can stay in front of the burners at the point position.
