Music City-July 09: Jennifer Hamson is one of the most talked about prospects in the country, and also one of the tallest at 6-6. She does a good job of keeping the ball high in traffic, working for good position and improving her hands. As she develops strength, she should be able to hold her position better. Her improvement from the spring to now is also notable, but one can only wonder where her game would go, if she trained for basketball exclusively. She maintains she'd like to play both basketball and volleyball in college. Defensively, she changes a lot of shots, blocks her fair share and is able to rebound and outlet over the top of defenders.
End of the Trail 2009: You usually expect a 6-6 prospect like Jennifer Hamson to still be growing into her size, rendering her a little awkward and able to contribute mostly at the defensive end of the court. The surprise is that the Lindon, Utah, post is reasonably well-coordinated, yet does not impact a game on defense as you might expect of someone with her mobility and wingspan. Instead, she is more adept at making everything from about seven feet and in, with an offensive assortment that includes a drop-step move, pretty good hook shot as a counter and the ability to follow up missed shots with her long arms. Her ability to master some of the stuff that usually takes young posts years to develop is a cause for optimism. Given some coaching and work in the weight room, Hansom has the ability to become a defensive force as well.
