Two of the brightest young stars in men's professional golf, Blades Brown and Ben James, are joining PGA Tour rookie Jackson Koivun as new competitors in the third TGL season, the league announced Tuesday.
Fifteen-time major champion Tiger Woods, who missed all of the second TGL season because of injuries, is also coming back to lead Jupiter Links GC.
On Oct. 11, the 19-year-old Brown became the youngest Korn Ferry Tour graduate to qualify for the PGA Tour by finishing ninth in the KFT standings. He'll compete for The Bay Golf Club in the TGL, along with reigning Open Championship winner Ryan Fox and returning players Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee and Ludvig Åberg.
James, who finished No. 1 in the PGA Tour University rankings as a senior at Virginia and became the fifth golfer to be named a four-time All-American, is joining Los Angeles GC, the defending TGL champions.
Los Angeles GC is bringing back Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Sahith Theegala.
TGL had previously announced that Koivun, who won the 3M Open in only his third start as a professional and went unbeaten at the Presidents Cup last month, will compete with five-time major champion Brooks Koepka on the Motor City Golf Club team, the first TGL expansion franchise.
Motor City GC had the first two selections in a draft of golfers from an available player pool and chose Koepka and Koivun. Motor City GC added Jake Knapp, Si Woo Kim and Bud Cauley to fill out its five-man roster.
TGL expanded team rosters to five golfers for its third season, although only three players will continue to compete in matches.
"Our teams are developing distinct identities that reflect their players' personalities and competitive fire, the character of the cities they represent and the vision of their ownership groups," Rufus Hack, TMRW Sports president of golf, said in a statement. "After two seasons, there's history between these teams, and those growing rivalries bring added intensity to the competition. With Motor City Golf Club joining the league and new players bringing fresh energy to established teams, there's plenty for fans to look forward to in 2027."
New York Golf Club added Ben Griffin and Alex Fitzpatrick, who will join his older brother, Matt, and Cameron Young and Rickie Fowler. Xander Schauffele will not compete in TGL this season.
Jupiter Links Golf Club replaced Kevin Kisner with Keith Mitchell. Woods, Max Homa, Tom Kim and Akshay Bhatia, an alternate last season, round out the roster.
Chris Gotterup will move from an alternate to a full-time member of Atlanta Drive GC, which brings back Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel. Atlanta Drive GC added Michael Brennan, a two-time winner on tour this season.
After acquiring 2019 Open Championship winner Shane Lowry in the first trade in TGL history, Boston Common Golf also promoted Michael Thorbjornsen from alternate to full-time competitor. He joins returning players Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama.
The third TGL season tees off Dec. 27 at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
