Day three at The Open was a controversial one, as Rory McIlroy slammed Bryson DeChambeau for holding the tournament "hostage." ESPN had all the live updates throughout the day.
Sam Burns ended the day with a two-shot lead as he built on a record-equalling Friday to card a five-under 65.
It came after Lucas Herbert had raced into the lead thanks to a historic day of golf on Friday, which saw him become just the fifth man ever to card 62 at a major. The Australian even had the chance to break the record and finish on 61 but missed a par putt from five feet at the 18th, much to the disappointment of those at Royal Birkdale.
Herbert struggled to emulate the form he had showed on Friday, but remained in contention after he finished with a one-over 71 thanks to some inspired scrambling in his back nine.
DeChambeau appeared to be able to shake off the controversy to card a respectable 69 which left him four shots off the lead heading into the final day.
McIlroy, meanwhile, is likely out of contention at just two under par.
Saturday's play began with many of the much-fancied players having already gone home. Matt Fitzpatrick, who was among the favourites going into Thursday, could not recover from a poor first round and missed the cut.
He joined other big names like Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Aaron Rai, Wyndham Clark and Jason Day as the surprise names not to make it to the weekend.
