Manchester United conceded two goals against Aston Villa on Sunday in just three minutes and 42 seconds, the earliest they have ever been 2-0 down in a Premier League game.

Nicolas Jackson pounced on a spill by Senne Lammens after the Belgian goalkeeper had spilled a shot by Alysson to turn the ball home, doubling Villa's advantage after the Brazilian had opened the scoring in the first minute.

Villa's 2-0 lead is the second-earliest in the Premier League this season, only behind Chelsea's fast start against Bournemouth, in which they had a two-goal advantage after two minutes and 29 seconds.

It is also the first time since a game against Nottingham Forest in August 2023 that United have conceded two goals in the opening five minutes of a Premier League match at Old Trafford. United went on to win that match 3-2.

United began the game in the relegation zone for the first time in 40 years after Nottingham Forest beat Manchester City on Saturday.

Michael Carrick's side are in crisis, having not won a league game since August -- a 5-2 victory against Ipswich Town which remains their only Premier League victory this season.

United fans, who had already protested against the club's owners ahead of the match, chanted "We want Glazers out!" after Jackson doubled Villa's advantage.
