Fantasy hockey weekly pickups: Start Lindholm, stash Evangelista, stream Calgary

Halloween lands on a Saturday, and the schedule has a few treats of its own. The scoring period from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1 holds 47 games, with the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets getting four apiece. But there are tricks as well, with seven teams stuck at two: the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Seattle Kraken, Tampa Bay Lightning and Vegas Golden Knights.

The Senators have the best schedule of the week for skaters, while the Oilers have the best for goalies. The Flames are the best streaming target in leagues with weekly transactions, with four games and an average of only nine other teams in action on the same nights. Monday and Friday have three games each, and watch for a 6 p.m. ET start on Friday and 1 p.m. puck drops on both Saturday and Sunday.

Every Monday, we'll mine the waiver wire for lesser-rostered performers who have the potential to help fantasy teams in a variety of leagues. We'll also present several strong streaming candidates for the immediate week ahead.

Forwards

Trevor Zegras, C/LW, Philadelphia Flyers (1.71 FPPG, 41.5% available): Zegras has six points in his past three games, and only 23 skaters have more fantasy points over the past two weeks. The power play is doing the heavy lifting, with five of his nine points on the top unit, where he's logged 4:29 a night over his past three games. The 5-on-5 numbers are less convincing (42.9% of the shot attempts), but the power-play role and C/LW eligibility make him worth the add.

Luke Evangelista, RW, New Jersey Devils (2.02 FPPG, 41.6% available): Back from a brief illness, Evangelista has returned to a promotion: the Devils top line with Nico Hischier and Timo Meier, plus a spot on a top power-play unit generating a whopping 6.86 shot attempts per two minutes. The trio is 4-1 on goals at 5-on-5 with 63.8% of the shot attempts, and Evangelista has four points in his past three games. A tough road trip through Dallas, Colorado and Vegas tempers the short-term outlook, but the role is worth stashing.

Kiefer Sherwood, LW/RW, San Jose Sharks (1.74 FPPG, 58.5% available): Sixty-eight hits through 10 games is a ridiculous pace, and it makes Sherwood a must-consider in leagues that count them. Now he's getting a look on a Sharks line with Michael Misa and Ivar Stenberg, adding four points in his past three games. The line is getting outplayed at 5-on-5 (1-4 on goals), so the scoring may not stick, but the hits will.

Joel Farabee, LW/RW, Calgary Flames (2.12 FPPG, 86.2% available): Six of Farabee's nine points have come on the power play, where the Flames top unit is putting 3.20 shots on goal per two minutes. That's the role to chase, since his even-strength numbers are ugly (34.6% of the shot attempts). The Flames make it easy this week with four games, three on light nights, against opponents who combine for the second-friendliest slate for top-six forwards.

Elias Lindholm, C, Boston Bruins (1.78 FPPG, 63.7% available): Lindholm is producing at almost exactly last season's rate, which makes his wide availability a bit of a puzzle. His power-play time is climbing (3:42 a night over his past three games), and his line with Casey Mittelstadt and James Hagens is 4-1 on goals at 5-on-5. The top unit isn't generating much yet (0.74 shots on goal per two minutes), so there's room for his power-play production to grow.

Defense

Charle-Edouard D'Astous, D, Tampa Bay Lightning (2.04 FPPG, 85.7% available): D'Astous has locked down a spot on Tampa Bay's top power-play unit, with his time on the advantage nearly doubling to 4:18 a night over his past three games. Four points in that stretch show what the role can do, and he's available in nearly nine of 10 leagues. Only two games against a tough slate this week make him a long-term stash rather than an immediate start.

Tyler Kleven, D, Ottawa Senators (2.00 FPPG, 71.0% available): Kleven doesn't need points to help a fantasy lineup, as 34 blocked shots and 24 hits account for 19.4 of his 24.0 fantasy points. With Thomas Chabot out, he's getting volume with Jordan Spence, and the week sets up nicely. The Senators have four games against opponents who combine for the friendliest slate of the week for top-four defenders.

Martin Fehervary, D, Washington Capitals (1.89 FPPG, 71.5% available): Fehervary is the definition of a peripherals play, with hits and blocks making up 16.5 of his 18.9 fantasy points. He's averaging nearly 22 minutes a night, which keeps the volume steady, and last season's 1.70 FPPG across 81 games shows it's a dependable formula in leagues that count them.

Goaltenders

Connor Hellebuyck, G, New Jersey Devils (11.8% available): No, he's probably not available in your league. This is mostly about getting to write his name next to his new team to make it feel official. Hellebuyck never slipped below 80% rostered despite the suspension, and the patience of the managers who held on with no guarantee of a trade has paid off. The bigger fantasy ripples are elsewhere: Jake Allen's run as the Devils' preferred starter is likely over, while Stuart Skinner can now settle in as the clear No. 1 in Winnipeg.

Juuse Saros, G, Nashville Predators (1.77 FPP60, 29.6% available): Saros has started seven of the Predators' past 10 games, and that kind of workload is rare to find on the wire. The results have been middling (.908 save percentage) after a 2025-26 season that produced poor fantasy rates, but volume counts for a lot in fantasy. An all-home week includes the Islanders, a top-10 matchup for goalies, on Tuesday.

Philipp Grubauer, G, Seattle Kraken (2.43 FPP60, 86.2% available): Grubauer and Joey Daccord have split the Kraken crease down the middle, but Grubauer has made his starts count, winning four of his past five appearances. It's only a two-game week, but one of those games is in Calgary, the No. 1 matchup for fantasy goalies, so keep him in mind if he draws the Friday start.

Short-term streamers

Alex Laferriere, C/RW, Los Angeles Kings (1.94 FPPG, 37.9% available): Last week we were waiting on Laferriere's power-play production. It hasn't come yet, but he's still in a great spot at even strength, with 68% of his recent even-strength time coming alongside Adrian Kempe and Artemi Panarin, and the trio is 5-1 on goals at 5-on-5. With four games against opponents who combine for the third-friendliest slate for top-six forwards, he's worth a start even while the top power-play unit sputters.

Neal Pionk, D, Winnipeg Jets (1.94 FPPG, 50.0% available): Pionk was a waiver pick last week, and his case has only strengthened. With Josh Morrissey out until at least Nov. 5, he's up to 27:17 a night over his past three games, including nearly five minutes on the power play. Now add four games against opponents who combine for the second-friendliest slate for top-four defenders. He's still available in half of leagues.

Morgan Frost, C, Calgary Flames (1.88 FPPG, 92.1% available): Frost is the deeper Flames play. His even-strength minutes are limited (13:50 a night over his past three games), but he's on the same top power-play unit as Farabee, where four of his seven points have come. With four games, three on light nights, against opponents who combine for the second-friendliest slate for top-six forwards, that power-play time is worth chasing in deeper leagues.

Matvei Gridin, RW, Calgary Flames (1.32 FPPG, 99.0% available): Gridin is the deepest-league Flames play of the bunch, available in 99% of leagues. With Mikael Backlund sidelined, he has three points in his past three games, all while holding a spot on the top power-play unit. The four-game schedule does the rest.

Erik Haula, C, Los Angeles Kings (1.39 FPPG, 97.0% available): Haula is a pure schedule play, and a deep-league one at that. He's taking on more responsibility while Quinton Byfield is day-to-day, and the Kings' four games against the third-friendliest slate for top-six forwards give him volume. The underlying numbers are rough, though, so only reach here if you need a body in a daily lineup.

Anthony Stolarz, G, Toronto Maple Leafs (3.03 FPP60, 87.8% available): Stolarz has four wins in five appearances while splitting the Maple Leafs crease with Sergei Bobrovsky, and this week's road trip features two of the best matchups for fantasy goalies: the Flames (first) and Canucks (second). There's no telling which games he'll get, but in a split crease with two top-matchup chances, the odds are decent he lands one.

Scott Wedgewood, G, Colorado Avalanche (-0.15 FPP60, 15.3% available): Wedgewood is rostered in most leagues for a reason, as last season's 3.79 FPPG across 45 games attests, but a sluggish start has him in negative fantasy territory. Both Avalanche games are top-five matchups for fantasy goalies, against the Devils (fourth) and Flames (first). If he gets the nod against Calgary on Saturday, he's a strong streamer.
