Pitchers to stream on Monday
Bailey Ober has walked an inordinately high number of hitters down the stretch. It's not the ideal setup for a streamer, but the Minnesota Twins have a road date with the San Francisco Giants so the veteran right-hander faces a depleted lineup in a pitcher's haven. The Giants will be without Rafael Devers for the rest of the season and may not have Bryce Eldridge come out of concussion protocol by game time.
Shane Baz left his last start after being struck on the elbow by a 105-mph line drive. He made it through the week unscathed, so he'll start for the Baltimore Orioles in the opener of a home series with the Toronto Blue Jays. On a busier slate, Baz would not make the cut, but there are only three games from which to choose, and the Blue Jays have struggled on the road facing right-handers all season.
Keider Montero will serve as the Detroit Tigers' primary pitcher when they host the Washington Nationals. River Ryan is set to make his Tigers debut, but he's probably earmarked for two or three frames before passing the baton to Montero. It should be a productive evening for the Tigers offense, giving Montero the chance for a win. He's had a couple of missteps over the past two months, but Montero has generally exhibited solid command and control this season, compensating for a low strikeout rate.
Hitters to stream on Monday
The Tigers' right-handed contingent lines up for a productive evening at Comerica Park with a matchup against Nationals lefty Jackson Kent. The southpaw sports a 6.40 ERA and 1.76 WHIP, fanning only 27 while walking a generous 23 in just 32 1/3 frames. Gleyber Torres, Hao-Yu Lee, Spencer Torkelson and John Peck enjoy the platoon advantage.
Brett Bateman hasn't compiled many homers and steals, but he gets on base and scores runs for the Toronto Blue Jays. He'll likely hit leadoff and enjoy the platoon edge with Shane Baz on the hill.
Walker Jenkins will be one of the favorites for next season's AL Rookie of the Year. The Twins are giving him a look down the stretch, and even though he's only hitting .211 through Saturday's action, he has clubbed three homers and a steal in his inaugural 18 games. The 21-year-old left-handed batter faces the San Francisco Giants' Landen Roupp. The right-hander sports a 1.77 ERA over his last four outings, but in 20 1/3 innings, he fanned only 13 while allowing 11 walks.
