STARTING PITCHERS FOR SATURDAY

Pitchers are ranked in order of their Forecaster/Daily Notes projected fantasy points (FPTS), using ESPN's standard scoring system (2 points per win, minus-2 per loss, 3 per inning, 1 per K, minus-1 apiece per hit or walk allowed, minus-2 per earned run allowed).

T: The pitcher's handedness. OPP: Opposing team. RST%: The pitcher's roster percentage in ESPN leagues. W%: The individual starting pitcher's win probability using ESPN projections. IP: Projected innings pitched. H+BB: Projected hits plus walks allowed. ER: Projected earned runs allowed. K: Projected strikeouts.

If a team is planning on using an "opener" to start their game, but will rely on a "bulk pitcher" to follow him on the mound after 1-2 innings, the bulk pitcher is listed and indicated with an asterisk.

Pitchers to stream on Saturday

Ian Seymour is coming off a rare misstep, having allowed three earned runs to the Texas Rangers in just three frames his last time out. Despite a solid second half of the season, the lefty has been troubled by the long ball lately, allowing multiple home runs in three of his past five outings. Even so, Seymour remains one of the best streamers down the stretch. On Saturday, his Tampa Bay Rays host a Houston Astros squad that brings a below-average offense facing lefties into Tropicana Field.
Seymour will be opposed by Peter Lambert, another popular streaming option over the second half of the season. The Astros right-hander logged seven innings in his most recent effort, making it the first time he tossed at least six frames since July 22. Lambert has remained effective, helping keep the Astros in the race for the AL West.
Clay Holmes is coming off his worst start of the season, surrendering eight runs to the Miami Marlins in just 4 1/3 innings. In the prior four efforts, the Chicago Cubs righty posted a 0.36 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. Rebounding will be a challenge against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates, who sport a potent offense versus right-handers. However, the Pirates are more productive at home and have been below average overall for the past month.

Pitchers to avoid on Saturday

Kyle Leahy has started 27 games and figures to remain in the St. Louis Cardinals rotation for the rest of the season. However, he's going to have his workload limited, with Cooper Hjerpe piggybacking him down the stretch. Leahy has served as a streamer frequently this season but going forward he should be avoided.

Hitters to stream on Saturday

Injuries have forced the New York Yankees to use several platoons. On Saturday, they match up with New York Mets southpaw Zac Thornton. The lefty has fortified a depleted rotation, but he has struggled over his last five outings, posting a 5.00 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. His main issue has been command, as evidenced by 34 hits, including eight homers allowed over his prior 27 frames. Paul Goldschmidt, Jose Caballero, Heliot Ramos and Amed Rosario all enjoy the platoon edge in the Bronx.
The San Diego Padres offense has been dormant for most of the season, though they've picked it up lately. The surge has them neck-and-neck with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the third NL wild card. On Saturday, they match up with San Francisco Giants left-hander Cesar Perdomo. The 24-year-old rookie has been solid in his first two starts, but he's not dominant, posting just eight punchouts over 10 major league frames. Neither Ty France nor Xander Bogaerts exhibits significant platoon splits, but they're still advantageous the first time facing a pitcher.
