Florida State extends its hot streak to recruiting trail, lands No. 18 junior Kourtney Weber

Kourtney Weber, a 5-foot-10 shooting guard at Ursuline Academy (New Orleans) and the No. 18 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Super 60 for the 2018 class, has committed to Florida State.

Weber chose the Seminoles over Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M and Mississippi State.

"Florida State has recruited me since the eighth grade," she said. "And I built a solid relationship with the coaching staff."

Weber, who tore her ACL last December while making an uncontested layup, hopes to return to the court in May or June. Versatile, quick and smooth, Weber helped lead Ursuline to a state championship as a sophomore and was named the most outstanding player by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

It's been a nice stretch for coach Sue Semrau and the Seminoles (22-2, 10-1), who have won nine straight and are ranked fifth in the most recent Associated Press poll. They landed two prospects in the 2017 class during the early signing period: No. 52 Savannah Wilkinson and Sayawni Lassiter.

Weber is FSU's first commit in the 2018 class.

Nine of the top 20 players in the 2018 class already have announced their decisions, but the top four -- Olivia Nelson-Ododa, Christyn Williams, Izabella Nicoletti and NaLyssa Smith -- remain undeclared.
