From Bruin to Bear, Baylor lands commitment from elite senior point guard Alexis Morris

Alexis Morris, a 5-foot-6 point guard at Legacy Christian Academy (Beaumont, Texas) and the No. 18 prospect in the espnW HoopGurz Top 100, has committed to Baylor.

Morris, who gave a verbal commitment to UCLA back in July, had a change of heart.

"I wanted to stay close to home. It's that simple," she said. "UCLA and Baylor were my final two choices. After I decided to open up my recruitment again, there were schools like Wisconsin, LSU, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M that came calling, but in the end, I wanted to play for coach Kim Mulkey."

Morris, a jet-quick guard who engineers the game plan in both the half court and transition, is also a standout defender.

She is the third member of Baylor's 2017 class. Morris joins Deauzya Richards, a 6-foot-1 guard and the No. 16 prospect in the class, and Trinity Oliver, a three-star 5-foot-9 guard. All three prospects are from Texas.

The NCAA early signing period for women's basketball is Nov. 9-16.

Baylor's freshman class featuring Lauren Cox, Natalie Chou and Calveion Landrum was ranked second in the nation.
