Goals from Teboho Mokoena and Iqraam Rayners handed Mamelodi Sundowns a 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates in Saturday's MTN8 final at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Pirates were seeking a fifth successive MTN8 crown, but African champions Sundowns spoiled their party. Teboho Mokoena broke the deadlock 11 minutes in. A free-kick delivery from Sundowns' right flank was only partially cleared, and a scuffed shot from Brayan Leon was flicked on for the midfielder, who fired home.
In the 62nd minute, Ronwen Williams got down low to make a superb save from a Gamphani Lungu penalty, tipping it onto the post after Mokoena was adjudged to have committed a foul inside the box by referee Abongile Tom.
Deep in stoppage time, Thapelo Mokobodi brought down Siyanda Ndlovu in the opposite box and Iqraam Rayners buried his penalty in the bottom corner, putting the tie to bed.
