317 Partnership runs between Tom Latham and Devon Conway for the first wicket at Nottingham against England. It is the highest partnership for any wicket by a New Zealand pair against England.

They bettered the 276-run opening partnership between Stewie Dempster and Jackie Mills, way back in 1930 at Wellington, which was only the second Test match ever played by New Zealand.

2 Number of opening stands for New Zealand in Tests higher than the 317 between Latham and Conway on Thursday. Terry Jarvis and Glenn Turner shared a 387-run stand against West Indies at Georgetown in 1972, while Latham and Conway put on 323 last December at Mount Maunganui.

3 Latham and Conway became only the third opening pair to share a partnership of 300-plus runs in a Test match in England. The previous two were also visiting pairs - 329 by Geoff Marsh and Mark Taylor for Australia at Nottingham in 1989, and 338 by South Africa's Graeme Smith and Herschelle Gibbs at Birmingham in 2003.

Those three are the only 300-plus opening stands conceded by England in Tests, but Latham and Conway are the first pair to do so for any wicket since Steven Smith and Mitchell Marsh's 301 in 2017 at the WACA (fifth wicket).

Latham and Conway are also the first visiting pair with a 300-plus stand for any wicket against England, since an unbroken 377 by Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis for the third wicket in 2012 at The Oval.

2 Partnerships of 300-plus runs between Latham and Conway. They are only the second opening pair with multiple 300-plus stands in Test cricket, after Graeme Smith and Herschelle Gibbs, who had three such partnerships.

They also became only the second New Zealand pair with multiple 300-plus stands for any wicket in Tests, after Henry Nicholls and Kane Williamson, who also have two.

6 Century partnerships for the opening wicket between Latham and Conway, the most for New Zealand in Tests, going past five by John Wright and Trevor Franklin. Latham and Conway are also the first opening pair with 2000-plus partnership runs for New Zealand in Test cricket.

2 Instances of both opening batters scoring 150-plus runs for New Zealand in a Test innings. The previous one was by Jarvis and Turner against West Indies in 1972. Latham and Conway are also the only second opening pair with 150-plus scores in a Test innings against England, matching Smith and Gibbs in 2003 at Birmingham.

7 Number of 150-plus scores by Latham in Tests, the second-most by any batter for New Zealand, behind Williamson (11). All seven of Latham's 150-plus scores have been made as an opener. Among New Zealand openers, Latham leads the list, while Conway's four are second-most.

361 for 4 New Zealand's total on the opening day of the Nottingham Test. These are the most runs that England has conceded on the first day of a men's Test, since 362 for 4 against South Africa at The Oval in 2003.

The 361 runs that New Zealand scored on Thursday are also the joint-second-most they've made on the opening day of an away Test match, behind the 452 for 9 against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2005. New Zealand also scored 361 for 5 against Ireland last month in Belfast.
