South Africa and Texas Super Kings left-arm quick Nandre Burger has been ruled out of the rest of MLC 2026 due to a pre-existing stress reaction in his back. His compatriot Dian Forrester has been named as his replacement.
Burger played two games for TSK this season, taking one wicket across six overs at an economy rate of 6.66. His injury might leave South Africa anxious in the run-up to an eight-Test home season.
South Africa's home series will begin with a visit by Australia, who will play three ODIs followed by three Tests from September 24 until the end of October.
Forrester is a familiar face in the Super Kings set-up: the 26-year-old allrounder has worked with coach Stephen Fleming in the SA20 (Joburg Super Kings) and IPL (Chennai Super Kings). In IPL 2026, he was added to the CSK squad as a replacement player following a stint in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
TSK were without their regular captain Faf du Plessis, who sat out with a back spasm, for their previous game against MI New York in Dallas. Donnovan Ferreira stood in as captain in the absence of du Plessis. TSK are currently second from bottom in the six-team MLC, with one win from three matches. They will meet San Fransico Unicorns on June 24 in Oakland.
