Scorer: Sudeep Poojar | Commentator: Shashwat Kumar

1:49pm That will be all from us for this game. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and don't go too far away because a blockbuster clash is coming your way in less than an hour. Until next time, from Sudeep and myself (Shashwat), it is goodbye!

Raji: "@ Shashwat - Are you going to sit through next two matches with us? " -- I won't be around for the next game. But Abhimanyu and Sudarshanan are already at it building up to the mega clash between Australia and South Africa.

Bryce, now speaking as Scotland captain: (On Scotland's debut campaign and the turnaround) The temperature helped a bit as well (here), nice to have a bit more of our usual confidence. Had a good series in Scotland and then a couple of good warm-up games. It was a good total but from where we were, felt we left a few runs out there. But our bowlers and our fielding helped us massively. We have got a lot of challenging games but we have to take each game as it comes. If we put in performances, we will be in with a chance each game.

Gaby Lewis, Ireland captain: (Where it went wrong with the ball) Probably that middle period. They (Scotland) played really well and hats off to them. (On the chase) Hard to pinpoint a certain period. We had a great finish with the ball. Momentum was with us but if we had a better powerplay
but hard to put a finger on it. Go back to the drawing board and hopefully improve. It is a long tournament. There are still teams we feel we can really put up a fight against.

Kathryn Bryce, speaking to the broadcaster as the Player of the Match: (Emotions right now) A lot of emotion flying around. Absolutely outstanding. Looking at the support for both teams, it is outstanding. (Partnership with Sarah and their plan) Just to go to our strong options and run pretty well. We got up and down well and the way she attacked through the middle, made it easy for me at the end. Really pleased to be able to do that and set the tone for the competition. (Message to fans) Just a massive thank you - they supported us throughout. Support was absolutely outstanding.

1:34pm A fairly commanding win for Scotland. They put up runs on the board, and their bowlers then rose to the occasion. They did not give much away in the powerplay and kept a lid on the scoring through the middle. Fraser then removed Hunter to truly set Ireland back before Gordon broke the back of the chase with a triple-wicket over.

Ireland, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their batting effort. They could not stitch enough partnerships together and struggled to keep up with the required run-rate. Hunter and Prendergast were the only batters to make it past 15, and in the end, that was too little as they tried chasing down 162 against a tidy Scotland bowling attack. Stick around for the post-match presentation.

KE Bryce to Maguire, OUT, and that is exactly what she does! History for Scotland, and after their adventure in the UAE a couple of years ago, they now finally have a women's T20 World Cup win to their name! Slower ball on a fullish length just outside off. Maguire swipes at it and picks out deep square leg to perfection. What a moment for this team. They have been full value for this win today, and they have shown that they are not here to only make up the numbers!
