6.32pm The celebrations begin in the ECR camp. The usually stoic Santner has a smile on his face. His men have eased past Cosmic in Voorburg. It was his NZ mate Boult who set up the win with a five-wicket haul, which limited Cosmic to 115. ECR's batters then came out swinging in the powerplay and finished off the slim chase with seven wickets and more than 50 balls to spare. Still early days in the competition, but plenty to ponder for new captain Munsey. Cosmic's NRR has already taken a beating.
That's all we have for you from this game. Hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, this is Deivarayan Muthu signing off on the behalf of Himanshu Agrawal and P Ranjith. Take care and cheers.
Trent Boult, Player of the Match: I don't know (reason for his success). Good conditions and the wicket played alright and one of the days. Nice to get the rewards today. Coming into a new environment, it's about reading the conditions and the quicker you can, you can control. Not getting younger, but getting more experience as I move around the world. Definitely, great initiative to bring this tournament to this part of the world.
Mitch Santner, Edinburgh Castle Rockets captain: We talked about adapting and what the pitch was going to do. Whenever you take wickets at the top, it's easy for spinners coming in. I guess the feedback from the first two games gives you an idea. We communicated with the bowlers. It's a new group and you get to know the roles. As captain and coaches, you have to give role clarity and we've started pretty well. The way the guys went about it [with the bat] was perfect, complete performance. I'm pretty happy [if it's the same pitch].
George Munsey, Cosmic captain: Never ideal to start the comp like that. Berrington batted well in the middle and the way AK started he was asking questions...Probably score a few more runs (what could you have done differently?) Credit to them, they bowled well. Fresh comp, fresh start, but positives to move forward. I'm confident that this group will bounce back. AK was firing and there was a bit of breeze as well, so just wanted to give him the conditions (on why Ngidi didn't open the bowling. Happy with the way AK started.
