Australia captain Mitch Marsh: "Important to start a three-match series with a win. I thought the way Alex Carey and Matt Renshaw built that partnership was fantastic and Matty's innings was brilliant. Got us to an above par total. Nathan Ellis is a gem. I believe he's one of the best white-ball bowlers in the world. He can bowl in all phases and it's a privilege to have him in our side."

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza: "We felt we were in the game. We didn't start well but the way the boys clawed it back was great but the game just got away from us. It was a good wicket but we just had be disciplined with the ball and we just dished up a few that were easy to put away. It is what it is. Hopefully we'll learn from it and come back better in the next one. Newy was excellent. Really pleased for him and really proud of him."

Player of the match is Matt Renshaw: "Just tried to rebuild. We lost a few wickets early but the boys started really well. I didn't feel under any scoring pressure. It was really nice. Pitch was nice. Ten years between international hundreds was not something I was expecting."

5.28pm Australia claim a 1-0 lead on the back of a comfortable 59 run win. Matt Renshaw set it up with a brilliant maiden ODI century and Nathan Ellis finished it off with his maiden ODI five-wicket haul. Cooper Connolly also made 51 and took a wicket. Zimbabwe were outplayed but Newman Nyamhuri's 5 for 62 was a highlight while Sikandar Raza and Craig Ervine made half-centuries.
