102.4 Shahidi strikes in his first over of the day, and that is that for Pant. Tosses it up generously, 75.7kph. There is a long-on and long-off in place but Pant still wants to attack. Dances down to go down the ground. The bat turns in his hands and he ends up skying it high. Omarzai at long-off settles under it to end Pant's stay in the middle. A maiden Test wicket for Shahidi and what a batter to get. Two quick wickets for Afghanistan 456/6

101.5 A bad leave and Jurel has to leave the crease! Just when we were talking about his judgement, there is an error from the batter. Sees the ball from Saleem land on a length just outside off. Thinks that it is outside the line of the stumps and that it would bounce over. But to Jurel's horror, it nips back in a touch and hits top of off. Saleem is elated, picks up his fourth 452/5

116.5 Nicked to the keeper, Saleem has five! He runs with hands raised, does the sajda and gets hugs. Pitched up just outside off, 144ks. Angled in sharply from around the wicket, Suthar looked to drive through cover without checking the shot. Thin nick. Easy catch. Salem points to someone in the stands/dressing room and smiles 510/7

120.4 Middle stump knocked out. Saleem punches the air. Good cameo from Siraj. Length ball reverses back to off, beats the hoick across the line and hits the stumps high. Stump's dented but will stay on 540/8

5.4 Suthar strikes with his fouth ball in Test cricket Malik's desperation leads to his undoing. After seeing the ball turn square in each of the previous deliveries, he decided to move across the stumps and do something about it. It is tossed up on a length again. He looks to slog it across the line after moving to the off side. Only gets a top edge to the left of the wicketkeeper. Rahul runs to it from slip, Siraj runs in from behind square on the leg side. Eventually the latter keeps his eyes on it and takes it safely, immediately looks at Rahul - perhaps a bit of confusion but no damage done. Malik falls at the stroke of tea 28/1

8.4 Wow, that's fast-bowling fantasy! One stump falls, the other flies. Seam wobbling slightly, comes in to land on the fuller side of length and decks in. Atal looked to punch it through cover, ended up with hands well away from the body. Close to the inside edge, doesn't look like he hit it. 143ks, seam in 0.84 degrees, middle stump flat, off stump cartwheeled at least twice 40/2

19.2 Low catch to second slip! Gurbaz stands his crease for an age, practices his short before walking. Length ball angling in to leg, seam pointing to fine leg, lands and spins away sharply. Gurbaz, as he often has this innings, took a decent stride forward and looked to defend with a mostly straight bat. The toe of the bat jammed the ground as he tried to open the face late. Edge went low to Sudharsan, who grasped it with both hands 62/3

57.2 Cleaned him up! A five-for on Test debut for Suthar. He looks skywards as he screams in celebration before his team-mates rush to congratulate him. Smartly bowled this one. Tosses it up, bowls it fuller in length. The key is the drift he gets - it swerves in to land on or just outside leg and then spin onto the stumps. Rahmat gets down to sweep, playing the initial angle which would have been on off and middle. But he is done in by the drift and he is bowled around his legs. A massive wicket this as Rahmat was the best Afghan batter in the middle 143/8

32.2 Huge appeal for lbw, the umpire raises the finger. Shahidi has a slow trudge towards his partner before signaling for the review this time. After the full ball the previous ball, he perhaps expects a short one and is rooted to the crease. Prasidh lands it on a length and angles it in on off and middle. Shahidi's bat is nowhere as he looks to clip but misses and is hit on the front pad. Ball-tracking returns three reds and so Afghanistan lose their captain and a review 98/4

39.5 Easy peasy and Suthar gets his third. Perhaps Suther's change of angles did Zazai in. Perhaps Pant's chirping from behind contributed to it. But in the end, it was a nothing shot from the batter. Tossed up generously, lands on a length well outside leg. Zazai goes back to pull it away but is early into the stroke. Only gets a top edge which Suthar settles under after moving to his right. Zazai takes an age to walk back 113/5

44.2 Inside edge onto the stumps! Prasidh was waiting for this wicket. He spears it in back of a length, angling in from outside off. Azmat goes for an expansive drive while leaving a huge gap between bat and pad... The inside edge ricochets right through that gap and knocks out his stumps. Should've been more patient against that line? Now he's walking back... 118/6

55.1 India celebrate but are puzzled that the umpire shakes his head. They immediately review. Tossed up ball, full on middle and spinning away. Ashraf goes for the ungainly hoick across the line. Gill at first slip immediately celebrates, and so does Pant. The snicko shows why - there is a spike as soon as the ball is next to the bat. A fourth wicket for Suthar on Test debut and Ashraf's painful stay comes to an end 142/7

57.5 Another appeal and the umpire gives it! A sixth for Suthar? Saleem reviews straightaway and then starts walking back. Tossed up full on middle and leg, it spins away past his forward prod. In fact, Afghanistan haven't reviewed thsi one and Saleem has walked back. They should have reviewed this one because the ball has pitched outside leg 143/9

58.4 And Pant's sledge works immediately! Ziaur skies it high and Pant himself completes the catch. Winds up to go big over the leg side, only gets a top edge. The wicketkeeper runs towards where short midwicket would have been, takes it safely. 100th first-class wicket for Washington and Afghanistan are bundled out for 152 152/10

28.6 And now Atal falls at the stroke of tea - a case of another batter playing a stroke that could have been avoided in the situation. Tossed up around off, Washington gives more air to this one, bowls it fuller as well. It lands just around off and spins away just a little. Even though he is well set, Atal's eyes light up at the sight of the flight. He looks to go over the mid-off fielder. But that little spin is enough for the ball to skew off the outer edge and Prasidh at backward point makes no mistake 98/5

13.1 That's close, and that's enough for the ump! As plumb as they come. Siraj pitches this on a perfect length outside off, jagging back in and past a lazy flick by Malik. Batter goes for a review here... Yeah, it was plumb, three reds. Not the best review, really, continuing with the theme of this Test so far 42/1

19.1 Gurbaz lives by the sword and dies by it. A needless shot and he is on his way back. Tossed up full outside off, despite long-on in place, Gurbaz looks to go big down the ground. Ends up hitting right down Prasidh's throat. Massive dejection for Gurbaz but he knows no one else can be blamed 74/2

22.6 Another Afghanistan batter throws his wicket away. The surprise is Rahmat was their best batter in the first dig. The move to attack the Indian spinners is not paying off. He skips down the track to hit Washington over the in-field. But the bat turns in his hand and it skews off the outyer half to Suthar at deepish wide mid-off 87/3

26.3 Sharp catch at first slip, thin edge and Shahidi is out of here. The umpires just want to check if it carried. Washington tosses it up, gets it to dip a touch and turns away from a length outside off. Shahidi goes back and pokes at it, not with hard hands. But it is enough to take the edge and go low to Gill, who has his fingers under the ball. A real good catch, superbly bowled by Washington, and Afghanistan continue to slide 93/4

31.5 And Suthar has his first of the day! Was flighted up right on the stumps, batter just misses the line of the delivery completely. Didn't even spin in that much. He reviews but this one looks as plumb as they come... And so the ball-tracking shows. Three reds, and India four wickets away from a win here 106/6
