9.45pm That's all she wrote for this game. Thanks for tuning in. The action will now shift to the three-match Test series, with Durban set to stage the first Test from October 9. Until next time, this is Deivarayan Muthu signing off on the behalf of Hemant Brar, Sudeep and Chetan. Goodbye and cheers.
9.30pm Right, this is done. The match has been called off due to rain. Australia deny SA a 3-0 sweep and win this game on DLS. They win this ODI by 45 runs via DLS method. Australia, though, will be sweating on Green's fitness after he copped a blow on his body while batting and didn't bowl in Australia's defence. Mitch had to burgle overs from part-time spinners instead.
Australia's win, though, was set up by half-centuries from Marsh and Carey after they were inserted by SA under overcast conditions. We will bring you the post-series presentation.
Alex Carey, Player of the Match: Yeah, the guys got off to a good start - they have done it all series - but today was nice to get past 300. Rain is never a good thing in cricket, but we were ahead of the curve. Full credit to SA for winning the series. I know my role in the team - catching balls and sometimes playing as a batter. Unfortunately, Inglis went down. The guys are excited and the Test players are here. Hopefully, the weather will be okay. I know everyone is keen for the Test series. We will start the prep tomorrow.
Keshav Maharaj, Player of the Series: It was really nice, but full credit goes to my team for allowing me bowl the way I could. Important to build-up to next year [ODI World Cup]. As a spinner, the lengths is important in South Africa, with bounce or stop or turn. Understanding the batters and figuring out game-plans against batters...The turn and bounce at Wanderers was nice and encouraging for me. Bjorn bowled exceptionally well and nice to have another frontline spinner at the other end.
Mitch Marsh, Australia captain: Obviously would have been nice to have a full game. I thought the way we batted, showed improvement. Disappointing series...Looking forward to the World Cup in 12 months' time. SA are a team that plays well at home and lot of learnings from that. It was a great challenge and always a privilege to captain Australia. I felt good, but would've been nice to get a couple of big scores for the team.
Temba Bavuma, SA captain: The result didn't go our way, but we wanted to give guys opportunities. Rickelton got some runs under his belt, Coetzee with the ball...from that point of view, it was good. We managed to go 2-0 up and we had the luxury of resting guys and giving others opportunities. It's never a dead rubber and always something we look to achieve. I feel we are making good strides. If we look at batting and bowling...a lot of it is about momentum and overcoming challenges in front of you.
9.15pm No positive news yet from Potch. Seems like continues to hold sway. While we wait for a resumption, here's a chat with Australia A captain Peter Handscomb, a veteran of over 200 first-class games, who hopes to make his case for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India next year
