Tristan Lavalette's report for today will be updated here soon, check it out

4:37pm, Day 3, Stumps: Day done. The good thing, or the bad thing depending on how you look at these things, is that the days have been called off quickly after bad-light interruptions and that's the case again. 65 overs on day 1, 71 overs on day 2, 74 overs today if my calculations are right. Leaves about 150 overs likely for the next two days. How will that play out? Find out with Alex and Sreshth tomorrow. Thanks for joining today.

Eye of Sauron: "South Africa's first innings saw 6 batsmen score 30 or more runs but none reached a half century. The only other time this happened in a test innings was in the fourth innings of the 1976 Karachi test between New Zealand and Pakistan. "

Darren : "they really need to adjust the start times of these tests an hour earlier. base playing times off celestial sun positions, not local time. this bad light garbage is also an issue for early tests in Brisbane as they don't do daylight savings, so matches start a hot later than ideal, and bad light stops play too often" 'Early-morning moisture' is a concern for starting earlier from what I've heard. But the start time, at 9:30am, isn't all that unreasonable, I think

Shaheer: "About 60 overs have been lost to bad light this game so far. Unbelivable"

Kevin: "Until the rule gets changed to it being down to the umpires i'm not sure the pink ball will ever be used in these scenarios."

4:31pm: Players going off for light! Five minutes later than yesterday, Gnasher informs. It has gotten darker as the previous ball suggested. For a while it looked like the light will hold up, but it went down pretty quickly again. It means that Head and Maddinson have survived and made some profits in their short stays. Lead has moved to 139,

Mulder to Maddinson, no run, Full ball lands around off and goes away with the angle. Maddinson shaped to defend but let the ball pass as it was much wider

Mulder to Maddinson, SIX, Flicked, deep square leg in play... Rickelton can't pick it up! He was looking forward and the ball went a row back. Mulder is bemused. Full ball on leg was picked up off the front knee-roll, that swung in a bit... and went 74 metres far. Mark Howard on air, rightly, says that's not a good sign for the light

Gavin: "Luan dre Pretorius has to get an extended run. He is a generational talent. Brevis has done nothing to deserve a test spot. Yes, agreed that Verreyne and Mulder (the batsman) are not strong cases."

Jansen to Head, FOUR, Middle-order Head makes way for opener Head as he times the pants off that punch through cover. Jumped, was in mid-air as he hit that with a horizontal bat, off a length. Good bounce on that, used it well
