Pakistan will play the winners of the second semi-final between India and Sri Lanka for gold on Saturday. It is the first time in the history of Asian Games that Pakistan's men's side has gone this far in the cricket competition.
It was indeed an exceptional performance by Samad, who is also the vice-captain of this side, as he spearheaded Pakistan's chase with a remarkable 30 not out scored at a strike rate of 200. Pakistan were in all sorts of trouble when they lost both their openers in the first two overs, but Saim Ayub's whirlwind 21 made sure Pakistan did not lose the plot after which Samad and Hasan provided the finishing touches. The turning point certainly was the 10th over in which Samad spanked Mustafizur Rahman for four fours and a six to take 23 off the over.
