Texas Super Kings 132 for 4 (Mukkamalla 38, Ugarkar 2-16, Tajinder 1-29) beat MI New York 127 for 9 (Sunny 26*, Ferreira 3-14, Milne 2-22) by six wickets
Texas Super Kings (TSK) stopped MI New York (MINY) at 127 for 9, but then took 19 overs to overtake them in their early MLC 2026 match in Oakland on Friday. That made it by far the lowest-scoring game of the season so far. More importantly, it was TSK's third win in five games, and the win lifted them to the top of the points table temporarily. For MINY, it was a second loss in three games, keeping them only above Washington Freedom.
Faf du Plessis won the toss and asked MI New York to bat first, and by the end of the seventh over, half the batters were back in the dugout. Doing the early damage was Adam Milne, who sent back Monank Patel and Ryan Rickelton, and after Hardus Viljoen had accounted for Tajinder Singh, Donovan Ferreira took over.
Ferreira got rid of Quinton de Kock first and then Kieron Pollard first ball in the seventh over of the innings, and MINY were going nowhere at that stage with the scoreboard reading 52 for 5. Nicholas Pooran was going nowhere either, and became the next to fall - to Ferreira again - for 3 off 11 balls, and if MINY got to a total that eventually proved competitive, it was down to the lower-order fightback from Corbin Bosch (24 in 27 balls), Sunny Patel (the top-scorer with 26 not out in 24) and Trent Boult (18 in 12).
A target of 128 didn't look too big, but TSK struggled all the way before getting past it.
Their highest scorer, Saiteja Mukkamalla, took 37 balls to score his 38 runs. Rilee Rossouw scored 18 at a strike rate of 78.26. The quickest of the TSK batters was du Plessis, whose 13 runs came at 144.44. But thanks to Ferreira and Milne's heroics with the ball, the task was never out of reach.
Importantly for TSK, each of their batters got starts, and there was never a collapse of any sort. The partnerships were 28, 31, 29, 8 and 36*. TSK were always going to get there. And when they did, they had Ferreira, appropriately, in the middle, with an unbeaten 18 in 13 balls, with Wiaan Mulder unbeaten on 19 off 15.
