And it's a wrap folks here at Oakland Coliseum. You can join the 2nd double-header game between Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings here. Time to sign off on behalf of Binoy George and myself (Rashad Mahbub). Taa-taa!

Player of the Match, Nicholas Pooran: "First of all, I give Jesus all praise and thanks. Basically, there was a plan about getting a start and taking responsibility. That's something we spoke about, and obviously knowing the conditions as well, gaining the opportunity today. We had to take responsibility once we got set. [Did you think the total was enough?] In hindsight, yes. We felt obviously LAKR has a powerful batting lineup, but we knew that pitch was always going to be challenging. We knew the powerplay was really important for us. We felt like if we could keep it really tidy in the powerplay, then we had a chance. Kudos to the bowlers who won the powerplay. I felt like they were exceptional, although we didn't get wickets there. They were really disciplined. [Run-out changed things] Yeah, I mean, the plan is always to take wickets, right? But it's nice to see us in a position to execute that run-out, acknowledging and recognizing important winning moments in the game. I felt like that was one. Then Nosthush and Romario came on to bowl in tandem, and they were exceptional, showing that if we are disciplined and consistent for a long period of time, we can be successful. Not only both of them, but the way Bosch came and bowled at the back end, getting those two wickets in that over of Russell and Jason; everyone understood the agenda. We stuck to the script, gave ourselves a chance to win, and in the end, we won the game. So it was a brilliant team effort, which is exactly what you want. Obviously, we lost two games, and to lose this one here would have been terrible. It's nice to see everybody coming back into this back-to-back game and bringing that personality. [Taking the momentum to the next leg] Yeah, that's a big win for us. Going to LA, obviously they are unknown conditions and we're not sure what's going to happen there, but we're happy to go on the road now with a win. We take it day by day, game by game. We will continue to assess conditions and play accordingly, so we're hoping for the best."

Romario Shepherd: "[How happy does that make you feel?] That makes me feel fantastic because you know how big a game it was today. To say I planned that, I would be lying, because it was something truly fantastic. I'm just thankful for the win. [How did you bowl two maidens?] Well, I didn't plan it. I just tried to hit the area as much as possible, keep the ball as straight as possible, and it happened, so I'm thankful for that. [How big is that win for you and your team?] Yeah, momentum is important in T20 cricket. Getting a win today is something that will help us going into the middle and end part of the tournament. If we had lost today, we would have been in a bad position, but this win will lift the spirit of the team."

Jason Holder: "Thought it was a good effort by our bowlers, the way we bowled on this surface. I thought it was commendable, just unfortunate where we bowled it. I thought we could have put a better effort up if we didn't get enough partnerships up front to really take the game to them at the end. We lost some soft wickets at some crucial stages. I thought we lost a little bit of intent in the middle as well, which really faulted us. So quick turnaround, we play again tomorrow. Now it's our first loss of this competition, so we got to keep our heads in it. The spirit of the group is still pretty good, and that's something I reiterate to the boys. [What have you learned about this Oakland wicket] It's hard, man. It's not an easy wicket to get going on. It's been a bit low and slow as well. So that's something we got to keep in the back of our minds. We need one of our top four batters to bat deep and win the game for us."

6:08 pm An underwhelming run chase by the Los Angeles Knight Riders sees MI New York continue their dominance over the men in purple and gold in MLC. A positive start with the bat for the Knight Riders, scoring 49 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. However, the 53-run opening partnership was ended through an unfortunate run out of Munro on 20 runs. Chand's stay was short-lived; right after hitting a boundary in the ninth over, he was trapped LBW by Kenjige. Kenjige struck again in that very same over. After being hit for six by Narine, the spinner bounced back immediately to remove him, forcing a catch to deep midwicket. As dot balls began to pile up, Kenjige claimed his third, drawing Powell out of his crease to be smartly stumped out. The run rate slowed down significantly during the middle overs, largely thanks to Kenjige and Shepherd, pushing the required rate well past 10 runs per over. Shepherd bowled two crucial maiden overs and picked up a wicket, keeping things tight from his end while Kenjige squeezed the life out of the batting lineup. Wickets kept tumbling for the Knight Riders, who never found any rhythm after the opening stand was broken. Bosch delivered the definitive late blows, taking two wickets in a single over by bowling out both Holder and Russell. Bosch then put the final nail in the coffin by removing Fletcher for 44 runs, caught by Boult at mid-off. It was a complete collective effort from the MI New York bowling unit, with all five bowlers got among the wickets. Kenjige and Bosch led the charge with three wickets apiece, while Shepherd, Boult and Ugarkar claimed one each. Ultimately, none of the Knight Riders' batters could match the well-paced earlier innings of Nicholas Pooran, resulting in a disappointing collapse in the chase.

Boult to Ali Khan, OUT, Done and dusted for MI New York, and their unbeaten streak continues against the Knight Riders! It was a length ball angling in from around the wicket, and Ali Khan attempted to hoick it across the line with the angle. He only connected with the inside part of the bat, sending it toward the short midwicket fielder, who took a sharp catch to seal the game.

Bosch to Fletcher, OUT, That should put the game to bed! It was a fuller delivery outside the off stump, and the batter tried to whack it through the line, only to loft it high into the air toward mid-off. Boult rushed in, settled himself underneath it, and gobbled it up safely under the bright sunlight.
