Kamindu Mendis, standing in for the injured Kusal Mendis says "We have a long batting lineup so we always have belief in ourselves. It was a tough wicket, tough conditions. They did really well in the first three-four overs and we were struggling for runs. [On the target] It was a fighting total so I think Kandy boys did well also. But in the end, our boys managed to chase the target."
POTM, Janith Liyanage: "I think the wicket was doing a bit at that time and I took some time in the middle. As soon as I started feeling good I started going for my shots. I think the wicket was a bit up and down because it was spinning and keeping a bit low. All I had to do was back myself because we had two power blast overs and I was looking for that."
Angelo Mathews: "The wicket was playing a little slow and getting worse. If not for our kiddish mistakes, we kept repeating dropped catches at crucial times and no-ball after no-ball, you can't be doing those things in a professional game. This was a terrible game, one of the worst I've ever played. It was just about silly mistakes. yesterday we did and today we repeated the same. We can't go a long way in the tournament if we keep doing this. We have a couple of days and we'll look to come back and not make those mistakes."

11.20pm After Moeen Ali helped Kandy Royals get to 179, he and Wanindu Hasaranga applied the choke on Colombo Kaps. Kaps needed 104 off the last eight overs, but then Liyanage and Neesham changed gears and got Colombo over the line to give them their first points this season. Neesham missed out on his fifty by two runs, but his knock was no less crucial than Liyanage's unbeaten 53. The turning point was the 15th over by Garuka Sanketh, which saw a chance dropped over the boundary rope for six, followed by two no-balls, including one on a ball where Sanketh thought he had Neesham out. That over cost 25 runs and the runs then just kept coming for Colombo, who lost four wickets in the first 10 overs, and had Kusal Mendis retiring hurt early. They'll be mighty proud of their efforts. Even with the ball, they were largely very good, with Binura Fernando and Hasan Mahmud sharing seven wickets.
