Jos Buttler: "So many players stood up, Paul Walter was the backbone of the innings, our Achilles heel at the start of the tournament was our catching, but we took some good one. We got them as far behind the rate as we could, then Daws came in and bowled two perfect yorkers."

On Tongue: "He's obviously got high pace with a really good slower ball. So if you can bowl 90 mile an hour, and then with a quite good disguise, drop your pace down, that's very effective. He creates really good angles. I think awkward angles as a batter, from over the perpendicular a little bit. So with that angle in, and good lengths, he's a wicket-taking bowler in all formats."

8.56pm Well, MSG pumped SRL by ten wickets last week, and this is barely less emphatic. It was getting tight for a while, when Harry Brook was in the mood, but the lack of a review for his lbw scuppered their hopes of hunting down a stiff target. Josh Tongue was simply immense with the ball, his four wickets were yet more proof of his wicket-hounding abilities. Ryan Rickelton hung around, but curiously faced just 34 balls out of 100... could he have managed the back-end better?

Either way, it will be MSG versus Trent Rockets in the final, while Sunrisers will at least have the women's final to look forward to.

Tongue is the Meerkat Match Hero: "Very happy... it's tough, a good pitch at the Oval, travels quick, but hit the top of the stumps and we got the wickets. Nice knowing that we were in the final towards the back end, but we've got to reset." A better bowler than talker... but that'll do!
