Pakistan's interim batting coach Asad Shafiq says it was satisfying for him to watch his two charges take responsibility and bat the way they did.

An excellent day for Pakistan comes to an end with Abdullah Shafique scoring his sixth Test century on what is his return to Test cricket and Babar Azam making his highest score since his last century - 161 against NZ back in December 2022. Both remain unbeaten and will look to build on the 168-run stand when the play resumes tomorrow.

Warrican to Abdullah Shafique, FOUR, He lets out a loud roar as he pulls the length ball to the midwicket boundary! He falls on his knees and raises both of his hands to the Pakistani dug out and his teammates give him a standing ovation. He has been in and out of the side since his last Test century against England in Multan back in 2024. Abdullah had to go back to the domestic cricket to prove he is good enough to make a comeback. Scored heaps in grade-2 cricket for MIT and helped them qualify for the President's Trophy grade-1 tournament. Those runs earned him an improbable recall and he has scored a terrific century in his first innings back in Test cricket. Not to forget, this is the first time he is batting at number three.
