The Big 12 athletic directors have agreed to ban professionals from returning to Big 12 schools in all sports, per ESPN sources. This is pending FAR approval tonight. The ADs were unanimous in their support. This follows in line with similar concepts as the Big Ten and SEC, and the ACC is waiting to be formalized.

The Big Ten announced a five-year contract extension for commissioner Tony Petitti today. His deal was unanimously approved and will take him through June 2033. “Tony has provided outstanding vision for the Conference through extremely turbulent times,” said Indiana President Pamela Whitten. “We’re thankful for his leadership and appreciate his spirit of innovation and collaboration as we continue to navigate the changing landscape of college sports.”

Thomas Castellanos has committed to Texas Tech, he tells ESPN. He's a former quarterback at Florida State, BC and UCF. He has 6,449 career passing yards and 48 passing touchdowns. He's also rushed for 24 touchdowns. He brings significant experience to Texas Tech's quarterback room.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the league plans to inform teams with direction on the flux between college and NFL. Per Schefter, a player that goes back to college from the NFL this year will be prohibited from signing again with an NFL team this year. A player signed to an NFL contract who is subsequently cut is a free agent. He may sign with another NFL club, the CFL or return to college. A player than returns is considered a free agent and will not be subject to a future draft.

ACC athletic directors met today and there’s momentum for the ACC to join the Big Ten and SEC in banning NFL players, per ESPN sources. Still a few more steps, including ACC Board approval. There’s momentum that the ACC will join those leagues. The goal for the ACC board to meet in next 24 hours for approval.

Sources: North Texas has named veteran transfer Tayven Jackson the school’s starting quarterback, and he’ll debut at his former school, Indiana, in his home state. He’s started 16 games and appeared in 27 over a career that’s included stops at UCF, IU and Tennessee. Jackson will be first-year coach Neal Brown’s first starting quarterback. His debut will come in Bloomington in IU’s first game since winning the national title. He’s thrown for a career3,451 yds and 16 TDs and rushed for 8 TDs.

Sources: The Big Ten is set to pass a rule today that doesn’t allow players to return from the NFL and play for a Big Ten school. Anyone who has declared for the NFL Draft and did not withdraw, appeared on an NFL roster or signed a contract with a pro league cannot be on a Big Ten roster.

Vanderbilt senior Blaze Berlowitz will be the starting quarterback to open the season for the Commodores, sources told ESPN. He’ll make his first career start against Austin Peay on Sept. 5. Five-star true freshman Jared Curtis will also play in that game, marking his first career snaps.

Sources: Defending ACC champion Duke has named San Jose State transfer Walker Eget the school’s starting quarterback, and he’ll debut against Tulane on Sept. 5. He beat out highly regarded redshirt freshman Dan Mahn for the top spot.   Eget was a late portal add after Darian Mensah’s transfer, and he’s a productive passer with 5,563 career passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns.
