Northwestern starting safety Jon Jon Stevens was carted off the field in the third quarter at Oregon after delivering a hard blow on a tackle. The team later announced during the 34-26 loss to the Ducks that Stevens was being evaluated in the locker room for an upper-body injury.
Stevens, who has started the past five games and seen increased action with top safety Robert Fitzgerald sidelined, initially lay motionless on the field after a tackle of Ducks running back Brandon Smith. He eventually stood up and was talking to athletic trainers and others before being placed on the cart.
Stevens had two tackles in the loss before departing. He came into the game with 31 tackles, four pass breakups and two quarterback hurries on the season.
