Oregon's Evan Stewart arrested on charge of driving under influence of intoxicants

Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart was arrested early Sunday on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Police in Springfield, Oregon, told local ABC affiliate KATU that Stewart was booked at approximately 7 a.m. PT on Sunday.

Stewart was released about an hour later to a third party, fellow Oregon receiver Dakorien Moore, according to KATU.

An Oregon spokesperson told ESPN on Monday morning that the school is aware of the incident and gathering information. Coach Dan Lanning said in his evening news conference only that there was "an incident that didn't match our standard" Sunday and that it "overshadowed the success we had Saturday."

Lanning said Oregon was still gathering details and plans to handle any punishment or repercussion internally, not publicly.

According to Springfield Police, on Oct. 18, 2026, at approximately 5 a.m. PT, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 126 near Mohawk Boulevard. During the stop, the officer suspected driver impairment and initiated a DUI investigation. The officer developed probable cause to arrest Stewart for DUI. He was then transported to the Springfield Municipal Jail, where he was later booked into custody.

Stewart, the Ducks' leading receiver this season, did not play in Oregon's home victory Saturday night against Nebraska. The senior was downgraded from questionable to doubtful late last week because of an undisclosed injury.

Lanning mentioned Stewart on Saturday night when listing the number of Ducks players who missed the game.

Stewart has 27 receptions for 352 yards and four touchdowns -- all team highs -- in five games this season.

ESPN's Adam Rittenberg contributed to this report.
