Florida State running back Ousmane Kromah will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left ankle in a 43-35 double-overtime loss to Miami on Saturday, the Seminoles announced Sunday.
Kromah had a 9-yard carry to Miami's 2-yard line but landed awkwardly on his ankle when Chase Smith tackled him. Kromah tried to hop off the field on his right leg, with his ankle bent at an angle. He finally fell to the turf, and the Florida State medical staff immediately put an air cast on his leg before he was carted off.
He remained in Miami overnight for surgery, according to Florida State, before returning to Tallahassee on Sunday afternoon. The school said they expect Kromah to make a full recovery.
Kromah led Florida State in rushing this season with 609 yards and five touchdowns. Florida State is also without backup running back Samuel Singleton, injured in the Alabama game, leaving Texas transfer Quintrevion Wisner as the lead back moving forward.
CBS Sports first reported that Kromah is out for the year.
