MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Florida State running back Ousmane Kromah was carted off the field because of a left ankle injury in the second quarter of Saturday night's 43-35 double-overtime loss to No. 3 Miami.
Kromah had a 9-yard carry to Miami's 2-yard line but landed awkwardly on his ankle when Chase Smith tackled him. Kromah tried to hop off the field on his right leg, with his ankle bent at an angle. He finally fell to the turf, and the Florida State medical staff immediately put an air cast on his leg before he was carted off. He did not return.
Kromah led all rushers with 44 yards when he exited.
On the ensuing play, quarterback Ashton Daniels scored for the Seminoles on a 2-yard run, and he made a 32 with his fingers as a tribute to Kromah.
Going into Saturday, Kromah ranked third in the ACC in rushing with 565 yards.
