Washington QB Williams exits game, set for X-rays on side/ribs

Washington starting quarterback Demond Williams Jr. left Friday's 41-24 loss to Iowa in the first half to have X-rays on his side/ribs, according to a team spokesperson.

Huskies coach Jedd Fisch did not have an update on Williams after the game, saying only that he expects to learn more on Monday.

Williams went into the medical tent after a third-down run late in the half with Washington trailing 27-0. He did not return.

Elijah Brown, a transfer from Stanford, replaced Williams and led the offense to several second-half scoring drives, finishing 28-of-39 for 251 yards and three touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Williams was 6-of-11 for 69 yards.

Earlier Friday, Williams was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award's Top 15. He is in his second season as Washington's starter.
