Kennesaw State tops Monmouth (NJ) 23-13
KENNESAW, Ga. -- Trey White ran for 102 yards with a touchdown and Kennesaw State topped Monmouth 23-7 on Saturday.
White threw a touchdown pass and was 7 of 14 with 114 yards for the Owls (6-2, 2-1 Big South). Chaston Bennett made the most of six carries, gaining 124 yards.
Monmouth (3-6, 1-3) led in this one, though briefly. On its first possession, a 65-yard drive ended in Cody Williams' 12-yard pass to Darren Ambush. The teams traded interceptions, and Monmouth's Matt White missed a 34-yard field goal attempt following a 70-yard drive.
Kennesaw then marched 80 yards, with Jae Bowen punching it in from the 2 to tie it. After a three-and-out, the Owls went 61 yards, the last two on White's scoring toss to Bowen. Another three-and-out led to Justin Thompson's 37-yard field goal as time expired to end the half, with Kennesaw State up 16-7.
The Owls took the first possession after halftime 11 plays, capped by White's 3-yard score.
