Aztecs roll behind Pumphrey's 267 yards, 3 TDs
SAN DIEGO -- Donnel Pumphrey rushed for 267 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to lead San Diego State over San Jose State 38-7 Saturday, clinching a bowl berth for the Aztecs.
Pumphrey's total is the eighth-highest in school history and most since Larry Ned's 285 in 2001. It was his ninth 100-yard game this season, tying him for the most with Aztecs Ronnie Hillman (2011) and George Jones (1995). SDSU rushed for 393 of its 427 yards offense.
Pumphrey had touchdown runs of 20, 1 and 35 yards. Chase Price and Lucky Radley also ran for scores.
SJSU quarterback Mitch Ravizza was injured early on and replaced by Blake Jurich. Their third quarterback of the day, Joe Gray, threw a touchdown pass with 57 seconds remaining. The Spartans (3-9) lost their last six games.
The Aztecs (7-5) completed an unbeaten home schedule (6-0), the first time they've done that since 1996.
