Drake gets 19-14 win over Marist
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Danny Donley made four field goals, Sean Lynch made two interceptions, and Drake topped Marist 19-14 on Saturday.
Drake (4-3, 3-1 Pioneer Football League) finished with fewer total yards, 333 to Marist's 356, but forced three turnovers and sealed the win with a minute left in the game by recovering an onside kick.
Grant Kraemer was 12 of 19 for 144 yards passing, and Sam Hefner added 94 yards on 8-for-14 passing. Brock Reichardt's 7-yard touchdown run came in the first quarter to cap an 18-play, 87-yard drive for the game's first points. Donley had two short field goals in the second quarter and two more in the second half.
Marist (3-5, 2-3) got a 2-yard touchdown run from Marcellus Calhoun late in the second quarter to make it 13-7 and again pulled to within striking distance with 1:01 to go in the game with a 13-yard diving touchdown catch by Juston Christian.
