Central Connecticut St. wins shootout with Bowie St. 44-35
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Brenden Lytton had 99 yards rushing and three touchdowns, Cameron Nash had 118 yards and one touchdown and Central Connecticut State beat Division II Bowie State 44-35 on Saturday.
Lytton added a team-high 44 yards receiving. The game was an offensive showcase for much of the afternoon, with the teams combining for 861 yards and 46 first downs.
Lytton's first score came early in the second quarter to tie the game at 14, helping the Blue Devils (1-2) to a 17-14 lead at the break. His second TD gave CCSU a 23-14 lead and his third extended the Blue Devil advantage to 44-29 midway through the fourth.
An Amir Hall touchdown throw to Anfernee Perry cut Bowie State's deficit to 44-35 but the Bulldogs got no closer.
Hall finished with 418 yards and 3 TDs through the air. Nyme Manns had 150 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Bulldogs.
