New Hampshire gets defensive in 21-7 win over Towson
TOWSON, Maryland -- New Hampshire registered two defensive touchdowns-one off a fumble recovery and the other a pick-6-and the Wildcats handled Towson in a 21-7 win on Saturday.
Trevor Knight scored the lone offensive touchdown for New Hampshire (5-3, 4-1 Colonial) on a 29-yard run just before the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats' defense took over from there.
Prince Smith Jr. intercepted Ellis Knudson and returned the ball 16 yards to make it a 14-0 contest. On the following kickoff, Shane Simpson returned it 100 yards to score to cut the Towson (1-6, 0-4) deficit in half with 7:06 before halftime.
Early in the third, Ryan Farrell sacked Knudson who fumbled the ball, which Ryan Sosnak returned for a 39-yard TD and a 21-7 lead.
Knight was 14-for-18 passing for 100 yards and an interception for the Wildcats. He added 64 yards on the ground.
Knudson threw 18 for 35 and 111 yards and a pick.
