Lauletta, Thompson lead Richmond past Elon 35-7
ELON, N.C. -- Kyle Lauletta threw a pair of touchdown passes and Richmond cruised past Elon 35-7 on Saturday.
Lauletta completed 18 of 30 attempts for 223 yards. Daniel Thompson carried 14 times for 116 yards with a short touchdown run and a TD reception, and Brian Brown hauled in eight catches for 100 yards and a score.
Richmond (7-1, 4-1 Colonial) led 6-0 at intermission and blew the game open in the third with three touchdowns in the frame. The Spiders took the first drive of the second half 69 yards in six plays, culminated by Thompson's 5-yard scoring run. Lauletta found Thompson on an 11-yard touchdown pass to finish a long drive then, after an interception, Lauletta hooked up with Brown on a 27-yard touchdown pass.
Elon (2-5, 1-3) picked up a touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter when De'Sean McNair recovered his own fumble on first-and-goal at the 1. McNair had 77 yards on 18 carries.
